Ben Hoskins (Halifax, NS) has been named one of eight officials to referee the Canadian Premier League’s (CPL) start to the 2021 season in the Winnipeg, MB bubble.
Canada Soccer announced eight referees, nine assistant referees and four accessors/instructors to start the season.
The 2021 Canadian Premier League will play the first month of the season in Manitoba without spectators, but plan to play later this season in each respective clubs city – hopefully with fans.
The 27-year old officiated his first CPL match on October 19, 2019 in Toronto in a match between York9 FC and HFX Wanderers FC.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hoskins had been selected to participate in the 2020 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Program of Referee Excellence, with sessions held in Toluca, Mexico and Bradenton, Florida.
The 2021 CPL season begins on Saturday, June 26 with FC Edmonton vs. Atlético Ottawa at 3:00 PM Atlantic and Pacific FC vs. HFX Wanderers FC at 6:00 PM.
