Windsor Junction’s Firth extends contract with Wanderers

Scott Firth (Windsor Junction, NS) has re-signed with HFX Wanderers FC ahead of the 2021 Canadian Premier League season.

Firth’s new one-year contract guarantees his spot on the squad for 2021, with club options for 2022 and 2023.

The 20-year old hometown talent first signed with Halifax in January, 2019 ahead of the league’s inaugural season, earning the title as the first Nova Scotian to enter the clubs ranks. His first professional contract came while he was still in high school.

“We’re always pleased when we can sign and retain a local, high calibre player in our squad. Scott understands what it means to be Nova Scotian. He is a local young man representing thousands of fellow Haligonians on the pitch and has benefited from the great youth club development systems around us.”

In 2019, Firth played 287 minutes over eight appearances. The midfielder finished the season with three shots, two on target.

Firth also made a pair of appearances at the 2020 Island Games in Charlottetown.

Prior to beginning his professional career, Firth participated in trials with Toronto FC; as well as with Portugese Primeira Liga powerhouses Sporting CP and Benfica.

“I just can’t wait to see the fans back at the Wanderers Grounds – the fans love us and we love them right back.”
